Been away....time for an update

GenCon 2014 came and went.  It was a great con and I picked up the new Operation: Icestorm boxed set along with the limited edition Penthesilea and Neo Terra Bolt cosplay miniature.  My son played in a an Infinity demo game with our local Warcor Patrick.

I have been working on scenery and assembling figures the past few weeks.  I just started painting with the intent to be ready for 3rd edition.

First games logged

I played my first full game of Infinity on Thursday 7/24 with my local Warcor (MadPat).  Had a great time.  It turns out he was running a tournament a few days later at Saltire Games.  With one full game under my belt, I gave the tournament a try.  The turnout was great and everyone was very nice and friendly.  I played three games with some great guys.  Steep learning curve but it is worth it.

Prime Time

All of the MAS terrain has been punched, assembled and primed.  I still need to do some more sanding and do one final primer coat before I can start finish painting.  At least I can play games with the terrain in this state.

I still have to finish assembling my Warsenal scenery.  I have to say, what I have done so far has been much easier to work with than the MAS stuff.  I am going to look at getting some of the Wasenal buildings next.

Monorail!

Forgot the monorail!  Walt Disney was right about what is to come.  Not sure he thought 175 years into the future, Nomads will be taking out key targets from a nearby balcony though.

Progress update

Just a quick status update.  I finished my 4x4 mdf board.  I used textured black spray paint for a quick result.  In time, I hope to come up with a better plan for the surface but it will do just fine for now. 

I also built my District 5 apartment buildings, garage and guard houses.  I still have another garage, 2 L-shaped apartments and a bunch of catwalks to put together.  I am waiting on an order from Warsenal to round out my starting terrain.  I have some planters, benches and some awesome acrylic pieces on their way.  Gotta get all this built and then the painting starts!

 



I found these cars at Wal-Mart.  I understand there seems to be a quest to find size appropriate cars for Infinity.  I think the one on the left will work just fine,.  The car on the right seems a little big.  The cars are Transformers so they will need some TLC to make them tabletop ready.

 

 

Just a note on the figure.  I started painting my Nomads last fall but stopped because I just did not like the basing I did for them.  I just recently picked up some Secret Weapon Tau Ceti bases and love how they look.  My Nomad has been taken from the old base that just had sand and put on the new one.  I need to get the bases painted and address the feet of the figure.  For whatever reason, the old bases were like a writer's (painter's?) block that I had to get past.  Now that I have that behind me, I am ready for finish my starter boxes.

MDF fun

I've been working on some MicroArt Studio terrain.  It is coming along slowly but I keep moving forward.  I also picked up some aquarium plants that will be used in future projects.

About a year ago, I picked up three starter sets.  I've had the rule books for a while but never got around to diving into the game.  I need to first get these put together and painted and have some beginner box battles.
